The Waiting Place

The Waiting Place
…for people just waiting.

Waiting for a train to go
or the bus to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jack
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.

-Dr. Seuss’s greatest…Oh! The Places You’ll Go. For all the times when all you have is patience…and you can’t possibly do anything else but wait…

: : : Listen carefully to the sound of your loneliness like a heartbeat, drives you mad, in the stillness of remembering what you had, and what you lost and what you had : : :

  1. Oooh, how nostalgic! I remember the teachers reciting that during a special announcement for the second batch of graduates at my school.
